Shaun Keenan Obituary

Shaun Michael Keenan, age 66, previously from Canton, MA passed away peacefully September 10, 2021 at Providence-Cedars Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, California. Despite being born with Down Syndrome, Shaun led a normal and active life. He attended Canton special needs classes in the Canton public school system starting with elementary school and culminating his special needs studies at Canton High School.  Having completed his studies, Shaun attended a special needs workshop in Norwood, MA for several years working on various projects assigned by the special needs center. Eventually he took a job at Shaw’s supermarket located in Cobbs Corner Shopping Center on the Canton, Stoughton, Sharon town line as a grocery bagger. He also collected shopping carts from the parking lot and returned them to the store. He continued with his workshop projects until moving to Los Angeles, Ca to live with his brother, the late Allen Broussard and his sister-in-law, the late Paula Broussard. After the passing of Paula, Shaun lived with his brother Barry for the remainder of his life. Before retiring in California, Shaun held a position at a special needs workshop in Sunland building fire alarms. He loved playing basketball (shooting baskets), bowling, music, and dancing. He kept records of famous TV actors and country music recording artists cutting out their pictures and stories from the many magazines that were delivered to him weekly. He would then paste them into photo albums religiously every Friday night. He did this continuously for many years creating a whole history of Hollywood TV and Nashville music. He loved Barbara Mandrel, Billy Dean and Colin Ray. The last 20 years of his life, he lived for and LOVED Donny Osmond. He was listening to Donny’s music when he passed away. He is the son of the late Bill and Emilie Keenan who lived on Highland Street in Canton. He is survived by his brother, Barry Keenan of Los Angeles, CA; his niece, Bretton Keenan of Cleveland, OH; his niece Halie Keenan of Sedona, AZ; and his nephew, Zach Keenan of Los Angeles, CA. A funeral service will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High St, Canton, Ma on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11AM. You are welcome to attend. Donations can be made to any special needs or mentally disabled organization of your choice in Shaun’s memory.
