Richard J. Hand Sr.

Richard James Hand Sr. of Canton died unexpectedly April 26, 2011 in the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood. He was 77. Richard was born in Athol, raised in Belmont, and moved to Canton in 1960. He worked as an iron worker, Local Union #7, in Boston for over 50 years. Richard was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holbrook Sportsman's Club, the American Legion Post #147 in Rockland, and the Retired Iron Workers Association. Devoted husband of Florence M. Hand (Dube). Loving father of Richard J. Hand Jr. and his fiancée Cathy Mondor of Brockton. Brother of Linda Notartomaso and Carol Berrigan of Belmont. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be private. If desired donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Angell Animal Medical Center, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
