Joan M. O'Brien

Joan M. O’Brien of Taunton, formerly of Canton and Mission Hill, passed into the hands of the Lord January 1, 2023. She was 83 years old. Joan was born and raised in Mission Hill graduated from Mission Hill High School class of 57’. She was the loving daughter of the late Maurice and Helen O’Brien. Joan was the adoring mother of Robert E. Maffie and his wife Lisa of Canton, Michael A. Maffie and his wife Katherine of Norwood, loving daughter in law Lucretia Maffie of Dedham, and Joan M. Maffie of Taunton. Proud sister of Helen M. Baril and her husband Daniel of Canton, and the late Richard K. O’Brien and his wife Mary of Canton, and the late Maurice E. O’Brien and his wife Mary. Proud grandmother of Michael A. Maffie of Fall River, Austin D. Maffie of Canton and the late Anthony R. Maffie. Proud great-grandmother of Bella and Braelyn Maffie. She also leaves many friends whom she was grateful for their love. Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home Friday, January 6, from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church (formerly St. John’s) 700 Washington St. Interment St. Mary’s cemetery, Canton.
