James C. Callahan, 80, of Canton, MA, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. James was born on May 21, 1945, in West Roxbury to Alice and John Callahan. He grew up in West Roxbury and Scituate and was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and Boston College. After graduating college, he served in the Army Reserves. James, Jim, or "Grandpa Jim" was a hardworking entrepreneur and devoted father and husband. In recent years, he was an incredibly committed and involved grandfather to his five grandchildren, never missing a school pickup, sports game, or dance performance. He was never more at peace than on Cape Cod, surrounded by family, with days spent on the beach and boating—moments that remain among the family’s fondest memories. James is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marcia Callahan, his sister, Marie Altmeyer of Rye, NY; his children, Andrew (Katherine) of Wellesley, MA; and Jill (Brian) Callahan of Victor, ID; and his beloved grandchildren, James, Bronwyn, Isabel, Patrick, and Caroline.
