Edith Marie (McDermott) Bowen

Edith Marie (McDermott) Bowen of West Yarmouth MA, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Edie was the beloved wife of 64 years to William R. Bowen, Sr.  Dear daughter of the late Grace (Simpson) and Francis McDermott. She was the loving sister to all her late siblings: Lorraine McDermott, Mary Coffey, Robert McDermott, Mildred Clarke, Grace McDermott, Frances McDermott, James McDermott, Florence Leary, John McDermott. She is also survived by her children Diane Bowen McGuire of NH, Judy Bowen of W. Yarmouth, William Bowen, Jr. of S. Yarmouth, Mae-beth Robbins and her husband George Robbins, Jr. of Stoughton, and David Bowen of Plymouth.  She was the beloved Grandmother of seven (Shannon, TJ, Caitlin, Kara, George, Kylie, and Andrew) and the adored Great-Grandmother of ten. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Edie enjoyed crocheting, winning at cribbage, and was proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a dedicated lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Edie will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St., Canton on Friday, April 14th for 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church (formerly St. John’s) 700 Washington St. Canton. Interment will be private.
