Daniel Michael Healy

Daniel Healy of North Attleborough passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 73 years old. He grew up in Palatine, Illinois, where he met Judith Healy (Kroll), his beloved wife of over 50 years, while they were working at the Jewel supermarket as teenagers. After earning a B.S. in History and Political Science from Northern Illinois University, Dan began a long career as a “Bureau Guy,” becoming Senior Inspector for the Bureau of Explosives of the Association of American Railroads. For over 25 years, Dan and Judy lived in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where they raised their daughter, Meghan Healy-Clancy. After his career in the Bureau, Dan founded his own hazardous materials safety consulting company, D.H. Observations. His colleagues knew him as a raconteur, with a wealth of wit and wisdom to share. He retired soon after the birth of his granddaughter, Joan Mona Healy-Clancy, to Meghan and her husband Seamus Clancy of Canton. Joanie was the delight of his old age, and he was as lively a playmate to Joanie as he had been to Meghan: reading books, playing dolls, and sharing good jokes. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for his “girls”: Judy, Meghan, and Joanie. His highest praise was saying that something was “better than it has to be,” and he was always the best.

Dan was a proud Democrat from a union family, and in lieu of flowers, he would encourage you to vote and to support progressive causes. Donations in his memory may be made to Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program, where he shared happy moments with Joanie. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
