Carol Marie Romanelli, 52, of Stoughton, formerly of Sharon, entered the gates of heaven on November 18, 2019. Carol was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of metastasized cholangiocarcinoma in the spring of 2018. Carol was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed bird feeding and bird watching, painting, decorating, reading Amish fiction novels, watching HGTV and, before her illness, walking several miles each day around Sharon Lake. Carol loved all things Christmas especially Hallmark Christmas movies. During this past year Carol went twice each month to the Berkshires to visit the National Shrine of the Devine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. While there she would stay at the Red Lion Inn, a place where she found great peace and comfort during her illness. Carol loved all of God’s creatures great and small. She was a member of the Mass Audubon and National Audubon Societies and enjoyed visiting their many sanctuaries.
Carol is survived by her mother Carol Ann Romanelli (Hagan) of Canton, sister Leigh Romanelli of Canton, uncle Dick Hagan and his wife Bev of Canton and friend and “cousin” Nicole White Philips of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her father and best friend, Joe Romanelli, who died in 2006. She will also be missed by her devoted friend and companion Richard D’Attanasio of Canton.
At Carol’s request visiting hours will be omitted because she felt people should have visited her while she was alive. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St, Canton Friday, November 22 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Dry Pond Cemetery, Bay Road, Stoughton.
Carol would like to thank all of the people who supported her in her difficult process of making her final arrangements: Dave Chaplain of Dry Pond Cemetery Association, Linda and Jack McTernan of Easton Memorials and Larry Pushard of the Pushard Family Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank the staff at Beacon Hospice for making it possible for Carol to remain at home throughout her illness. If desired, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Neponset Valley Humane Society P.O. Box 544 Norwood, MA 02062
