Albert Meninno Sr. Obituary

Albert J. Meninno Sr. of Canton, Lakeville, and Mattapoisett died unexpectedly April 19, 2021. He was 83 years old. Al was born and raised in Canton in a family that included 6 brothers and 7 sisters.  His upbringing in a family that size created countless memories and wonderful stories that he shared throughout his life.  Al proudly served in the United States Navy, was a cabinet maker, self-employed carpenter and landscaper.  He played sports much of his life.  He also loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots, Bs and Cs and his living room was often the gathering spot for all the important games over the years.  Al loved cooking for his family and friends at every major holiday.  He enjoyed spending time with his sons and daughters and got great joy watching his grandkids grow up into young adults.  His daily phone call with his brother Tony was how he started his day as they hashed out all sports topics.  He was the beloved son of the late Rocco and Theresa Rose Meninno. Loving father of Albert J. Meninno Jr. and his wife Julie of Mattapoisett, Jeffrey A. Meninno of CT, Cynthia J. Costa of Stoughton, and Sharon M. Meninno of Mattapoisett. Former husband of Carol Meninno. Loving brother of Tony Meninno of Wilmington, Betty Walsh of Houston, Tx, Kay Meninno of Wilmington, NC, Loretta Meninno of Jacksonville, FL, Carol Meninno of Brockton and Joseph Meninno of Wichita, Tx. The proud grandfather of Derrick Costa, Ella, Sophia, Christopher, Jack, and Joshua Meninno and great-grandfather of Giovanni Costa. They don’t make guys like this anymore.  He served his country, coached his kids sports teams, was a hard worker and a giving, compassionate friend to all.  He taught his family what was important in life and made all of our lives much better.
